We are introducing a new line of Shepherd Design Customized products: Forged Carbon Series. Currently, our products under this series feature two special finishes: Matt forged carbon and gloss-forged carbon with gold flakes embedded.
The main difference between regular woven carbon fibers and Forged Carbon Fiber is that it’s made from either a paste or tiny chopped carbon fibers. In the manufacturing process, forged composites are made by mixing chopped or pasted carbon fibers with a resin matrix. The mixture is then subjected to heat and pressure to create a random, marbled appearance. There is no distinct pattern as the fibers are oriented entirely randomly, so each finished Forged Carbon product will be unique to itself. The finished product has a different aesthetic from its woven counterpart, which looks more like a marbled carbon fiber than a woven fabric.
All carbon fiber products under this series are Dry/Pre-Preg Carbon Fiber. It is created by impregnating carbon fiber fabric with a precisely measured amount of epoxy resin. The dry carbon fiber offers an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and also ensures that the part’s fitment to the vehicle is spot on.
Forged Carbon Fiber offers a unique appearance that differs from regular woven carbon fiber, but even more?
